"Cam's honest dedication to the arts shines through. He's always sincere in offering support musically, professionally, or personally, earning the respect he deserves.” - Edward Sorrentino, New England Award-Winning Percussionist.
Before ever touching a musical instrument, Cam was already chasing rhythm. From stomping his feet, to tapping pencils in class. But what started as a childhood obsession became a lifelong pursuit of sound, energy, and connection. Raised in Marshfield, Massachusetts, Cam has devoted his whole life to the South Shore community. He has studied percussion at the South Shore Conservatory near Duxbury since the age of 6, where he honed his skills in performance and live collaboration. Going on to Berklee College of Music, Cam is working on a career in music in all areas, advancing his rhythmic artistry to a new level. He states that it is a creative road that involves rapping, beatboxing, and producing as he seeks to complete his Bachelor of Music degree.
Cam goes by Cameron "Drummerboy" Igo. A rhythmic artist who continues to wow his audiences with a mix of rap/alternative/pop-styled performances and rambunctious flair. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Anderson .Paak and Karen Carpenter, Cam has developed the ability to coordinate drumming and vocalization simultaneously, presenting a sense of rhythm like no other. While he’s hoping to someday meet and perform with .Paak, Cam is currently focused on further developing his unique hybrid of drumming and rapping production, carving a sub-genre of his own in the future. Overall, Cam's main goal with his music is to create an authentic and relatable space that connects his audience with him, even if they have had different experiences. His self-produced 2022 rap project, Life's Degree, contains lyrical content describing his process from detachment to confidence during his journey at Marshfield High. His lyrical content describes heartbreak and remorse, but is also highlighted with humor and charisma.
Since 2016, Cam has performed at the Levitate Music Festival for audiences of over 9,000 people, making history with his band as the youngest group ever to perform at the event. In high school, he earned multiple top placements for snare drumming in the Southeastern District, performing in classical orchestras alongside some of the best musicians in the state. Also, Cam was the first-ever recipient of Ernie Boch Jr.'s Music Drives Us award, earning a free drum kit and attending the launch event alongside the legendary band, Boston! Lastly, when he's not performing live or earning accolades, Cam is usually spending his day marketing his TikTok page and making content for over 100,000+ followers!
